Risk Management

Welcome to OCPS Risk Management. We are committed to managing risks in order to maximize available funds for the education of our students. We are also dedicated to providing quality insurance benefits to assist the District in attracting and retaining a qualified workforce.

The Risk Management department is responsible for loss prevention, procurement of insurance and/or maintaining self-insured programs, and management of claims.

Some of the programs handled by Risk Management include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains insurance programs consisting of medical and life insurance coverage along with a variety of voluntary benefits including additional life, disability, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, Employee Wellness (EWP) and Employee Assistance (EAP) programs.

  • Provides professional assistance with Retirement, Sick Leave Bank and Tax Deferred Annuities.

  • Maintains liability and property insurance, interscholastic sports insurance, accident/incident reporting, property damage and all special events within the District. Along with any other programs as determined by the Board and Risk Management. We assess any and all potential risks within the District to establish whether a risk is present and, if so, the range or magnitude of that risk.

  • Provides appropriate medical care to employees who are injured on-the-job and offers a Light Duty program for benefited employee.

In accordance with School Board Policies JLCE:First Aid and Emergency Medical Care and KI:Visitors to the School, Risk Management MUST be notified in writing of all student and visitor incidents within 48 hours of occurrence.
