Important Dates

2026-2027: Potential Applicant Orientation will be held in Conference Room A at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center (RBELC), 445 W. Amelia Street, Orlando, FL 32801, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This orientation is designed to advise potential charter applicants of the application process aligned with Florida Statutes and will include tips on applying for a charter within Orange County. Please call 407.317.3484 ext. 2024184 to schedule an orientation meeting.

2026-2027: Please submit a Letter of Intent to the Charter Office declaring the intent to submit a charter school application. It is understood that applications can be submitted at any time. Please include the intended name of the school, program, grade levels, and the location, if known. Please forward the letter to Dr. Kia Scott, Senior Director, School Choice Services.

Application Submission Deadline: The Orange County School Board has scaled back its meeting schedule to a single meeting per month.  According to Florida statutes 1002.33 section 6:

“A sponsor shall, by a majority vote, approve or deny an application no later than 90 calendar days after the application is received unless the sponsor and the applicant mutually agree in writing to temporarily postpone the vote to a specific date, at which time the sponsor shall, by a majority vote, approve or deny the application.”

In order to ensure statutory deadlines are met, the suggested application submission dates are as follows:

August 11, 2026

November 10, 2026

February 9, 2027

May 11, 2027

August 10, 2027

Please note that Florida Statutes have eliminated application submission deadlines. The proposed dates above have been selected to maintain consistency with the practices of other charter school authorizers across Florida.
