The School Board of Orange County held its regularly-scheduled board meeting at 4:45 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:
School Board extends Hungerford Prep property sale deadline
School Board members voted unanimously to approve an extension of a 2019 agreement with the Town of Eatonville designed to sell the former Hungerford Prep property. An RFP (request for proposals) seeking a third-party purchaser in 2020 brought no bids, and all three responses to a January 2021 RFP were deemed nonresponsive to the requirements. The 116-acre piece of property along Interstate 4 in Eatonville is one of the largest undeveloped tracts along I-4 between Deltona and Walt Disney World. The district has been working with the town of Eatonville to find a suitable developer to build on the property in an effort to grow the town economically.
