This morning, Riverdale Elementary School students returned to class after Hurricane Ian caused significant damage to the campus. Riverdale students who were not originally eligible for bus service will now receive transportation from University High School to East River High School. As students arrived at school they were greeted by their teachers and members of the East River High School football, cheer and dance teams showing their support.

During their visit, they received a tour of their child’s classroom and information about academic instruction, supervision, transportation, and food services.

Orange County Public Schools is working with a contractor to complete flood mitigation, cleanup, and sanitization of the Riverdale campus. While there is currently no timeline for when the repairs will be completed, the rapid response of crews allowed for many items inside the school to be salvaged.
