Today, the Orange County School Board met for a scheduled Rule Development Workshop at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center to review policies related to instructional and library materials.

Proposed changes to the policies being revised include language from recently enacted laws and the clarification of the process by which a parent or a resident of the county can object to the Board’s adoption of instructional materials and/or request reconsideration of library materials already in use.

  • IJ Instructional Resources and Materials
  • IJL Library Materials Selection and Adoption
  • IMB Teaching About Controversial Issues
  • KEC Challenged Materials Policy

The Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Digital Learning, the Senior Director of Digital Learning and the Director of Instructional Technology and Library, along with the Deputy General Counsel, answered questions related to the policies and offered clarification, where possible. Watch the rule development to see the full discussion.
