PIP FAQ's

Start of Services:
For ABA Therapy-  An observation of the student MUST take place BEFORE the collaborative meeting with school personnel occurs.  

For ALL Private Therapies- A collaborative meeting with school personnel MUST take place BEFORE services begin.

These requirements may occur after the first day of the new school year, and can only happen after a submitted application has been approved. 

APPLICATIONS MAY TAKE UP TO 45 DAYS TO PROCESS AND APPROVE.

Only students identified as having a disability under IDEA are eligible to receive PIP (Private Instructional Personnel) services. The statute is written under Florida State Statute 1003, Part V - Item 2. Item 2 in the statute states the following:  “The collaboration of public and private instructional personnel shall be designed to enhance but not supplant the school district's responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).”  

Only students with an IEP can receive Private Instructional Personnel services during the school day at their traditional public school.

Private Instructional Personnel (PIP) Insurance Guidelines - All PIPs and RBTs MUST submit proof of Insurance.

These are general guidelines to assist a PIP/RBT with gathering certificates of insurance. However, it is the responsibility of the PIP/RBT to read the full PIP application to understand the monetary requirements for insurance per OCPS vendor policy.

BEFORE you open the Google Form, you must have the following documents ready for submission:

Proof of insurance
Proof of OCPS green vendor badge
Proof of professional license
Signed and initialed PIP application
