The Learning Counsel has selected Orange County Public Schools as the 2017 Digital Super Hero Award recipient. The Learning Counsel is a research institute focused on providing context for the shift in education to digital curriculum.

The Learning Counsel is comprised of superintendents, tech and instructional administrators, curriculum specialists, publishers and experts in teaching and learning. The work of the Learning Counsel is to monitor the efforts of education as it integrates digital curriculum and content into the daily learning of students.

 The Learning Counsel selected Orange County Public Schools based on the district’s vision and leadership within the LaunchED digital learning program. LaunchED is an immersive and interactive learning experience that combines technology, digital content and instruction to strengthen a student's learning experience. LaunchED provides students access to world-class, digital tools and resources that allow them to be:

  • Collaborative
  • Connected
  • Critical thinkers and problem solvers
  • Creative and innovative 

“This award is a testament to the hard work of all of our LaunchED schools,” said Rob Bixler, Executive Director for OCPS Curriculum, Instruction and Digital Learning. “It is the vision of the OCPS School Board and Superintendent Barbara Jenkins to be a leader in digital learning, and this recognition shows how much we are making a difference.”
