Nourish to Flourish: October 2022
Fight Stress and Find Serenity with Yoga
By Sandra Carr

Yoga, derived from the Sanskrit word yuji, means yoke or union, and is an ancient practice that originated in northern India more than 5,000 years ago. The workout routine unites mind and body by combining breathing exercises, meditation and poses designed for relaxation and stress reduction.

OCPS’ Nourish to Flourish Wellness Boost encourages employees to live a healthy lifestyle by providing physical- and mental-health tips. For October, discover the benefits of yoga in the Mayo Clinic’s question-and-answer article.

The Nourish to Flourish Wellness Boost is an OCPS Mental Health Commission incentive that was started by School Board Chair Teresa Jacobs in 2020. The group provides services that best support the mental and emotional well-being of our staff and students by collaborating with community stakeholders.

Each week during the school year, OCPS employees are randomly selected to receive a $25 wellness-boost gift card. The selected staff members choose how they want to nourish to flourish by using the reward to meet their cognitive, emotional, interpersonal, professional or spiritual needs.

Listed below are the September 2022 and October 2022 Nourish to Flourish Wellness Boost winners. View the staff photos in the Around OCPS photo gallery.
