Why Does the Orange Peal?

The Orange Peal is going back to its roots.
First launched in April 1974, the Peal was a newsletter for all OCPS employees “from principals to custodians.” With a name encompassing the symbols of the orange and the school bell, the Orange Peal was intended for “the good news of this school system [to be] ‘rung out’” -- in other words, to peal. The first issue was two typed pages.
The Orange Peal returns to a newsletter format today. But in a modern twist, it will appear only online. Your favorite features, including A Funny Thing Happened and the Employee ID search, will remain. You’ll also find a profile of our new superintendent, a look inside five new schools and news from around the district.
Let us know what you think of the new Orange Peal and send us your story ideas at [email protected].
