OCPS Alumni Network Aims to Recruit 2,023 Members This Year

Life can get in the way after graduation, but the OCPS Alumni Network provides another way to stay in touch and connect with other district alumni and supporters. 

The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools launched the network four years ago as part of the school district’s 150-year anniversary celebration. In January, the organization had a kick-off celebration to announce its 2023 recruitment goal - of 2,023 new members - at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. The event included remarks from Superintendent Maria Vazquez, school board members, OCPS Alumni Network Chair Jennifer Flynn Dear and foundation staff, a catered meal and door-prize giveaways. OCPS high school alumni polo shirts were also available to purchase.

“The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools is investing in our children today to strengthen our community tomorrow, and our alumni have definitely strengthened our community in so many ways,” said District Foundation Assistant Director Pam Carson. “Our OCPS Alumni Network is a group that helps promote the school district and has perks, including career connections, volunteering and mentoring opportunities, high school reunion information and alumni spotlights. A big thank you to Addition Financial for its special offers and continued support.”

Horizon High School Principal Andrew Jackson is an OCPS alumnus, who graduated from West Orange High and became an OCPS Alumni Network member in January.

“I’m a product of Orange County Public Schools and the legacy is continuing with my two daughters who both attend Dillard Street Elementary,” said Jackson. “I had a magical experience as an OCPS student. Every teacher was great and I always felt supported. The OCPS Alumni Network will be a wonderful opportunity for me to connect with others and give back to the school district.”
