District will offer additional clinics the week after Thanksgiving and during Winter Break
Orange County Public Schools hosted clinics last week at each of its 22 high schools, offering the COVID-19 vaccine to families with children ages 5 and older, as well as any others who needed their vaccine or booster shot. In total, healthcare providers gave 5,635 doses to students, their families and the community at these events which includes 3,969 pediatric doses to children aged 5-11.

OCPS high schools will again open their doors for vaccine clinics the week after Thanksgiving, allowing those who received their first shot last week to return to the same location for their second. Additionally, anyone who missed their opportunity to get a vaccine for their child or family member may attend these events and start their vaccination process. All brands and boosters will be available.
The next clinics are scheduled for November 30, December 1, 2, 4 and 6 with all 22 high schools again hosting one event during that time frame. Five high schools will also host vaccination events during Winter Break. The full schedule is posted on the OCPS website.
"We are happy to see such a great turnout, and pleasantly surprised at the robust group of adults getting their vaccines and/or booster shot along with their children, making it truly a family event," states Chief Communications Officer Scott Howat. "OCPS will continue to partner with our community in the effort to fight the virus by opening our school buildings for vaccination clinics that are conveniently accessible to families in their own neighborhoods."
Understanding that many families have questions about the vaccines, OCPS produced an
"Ask The Experts" video, with Dr. Vincent Hsu, Executive Director and Epidemiologist for Infection Prevention at AdventHealth, Dr. Raul Pino, Director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, as well as Superintendent Barbara Jenkins, answering questions from OCPS families with students in the 5-11 year old age group.
