The School Board of Orange County held its regularly scheduled board meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:

School Board approved Millage to Support 2019-20 Tentative Budget

After a public hearing, the school board adopted the millage required to support the tentative budget for school year 2019-20.

2019-20 Tentative Budget and Date for Final Public Hearing Approved

The amount of the proposed tentative budget approved by the school board is as follows:

Changes approved to the 2019-20 Code of Student Conduct

The purpose of the revisions to the Code of Student Conduct is to authorize procedures for disciplinary action and address the rights of students. To view the changes click here.

School Board approved the Legislative platform for 2019

The 2020 State and Federal Legislative platforms are the result of the consensus reached by the School Board in committee. The recommended state and federal priorities are based on a review of the 2019 Legislative Session and input from school board members, district staff, teachers as well as various local and statewide organizations. These priorities may be modified or revised at any future time as desired by the School Board up to and during the 2020 Legislative Session. This platform will submitted to the Florida School Boards Association, Florida Association of District School Superintendents, and the Central Florida Public School Boards Coalition for consideration. It will also be submitted to other school boards for consideration of endorsement and support. The platform will be presented to the Orange County state and federal legislative delegations and other members of the Florida Legislature and U.S. Congress.To view the state and federal Legislative platforms click here for the state and click here for the federal.
