School Board proclaims Dec. 11 as a day of celebration for the 150th Anniversary

Throughout the 2019-20 school year, Orange County Public Schools will continue to celebrate its 150thanniversary. The district was founded on Dec. 11, 1869, with the formation of the Board of Public Instruction. W. C. Roper, A. C. Caldwell, and Z. H. Mason became the first three board members and William A. Lovell was named the first superintendent. The district will mark its milestone anniversary by inviting the Central Florida community to “GO ORANGE” on Dec. 11, 2019, and share their well wishes, memorable moments and photos on social media using #ocsp150. Read the proclamation.

School Board unanimously voted to adopt the OCPS 2025 Strategic Plan

The current OCPS Strategic Plan “OCPS 2020” has been under review during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years. School board members have shared critical insights, examined several data sources, and conducted a SWOT analysis to review strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The results from the environmental scan led to the proposal for a strategic plan renovation, slight adjustments were made after extensive community input. The School Board will now replace the “OCPS 2020” with the updated strategic plan, referred to as “OCPS 2025”.
