Pre-Employment Orientation Sessions

Per Florida Statute 119.071(5), this is to notify you of the purpose for collecting and utilizing your social security number. Providing your social security number is a condition of employment at Orange County Public Schools. To protect your identification, Employment Services will secure your social security number from unauthorized access, and strictly prohibit the release of your social security number to unauthorized parties contrary to state and federal law.

Employment Services collects your social security number for legitimate business purposes during the recruitment, selection and hiring process with Orange County Public Schools. Your social security number will be used for completing and processing the following actions: Employment application for determining certification eligibility [1012.56 F.S.], Completion of federal I-9 form for the filing and issuance of federal employment forms [8 USC 1324a(b)], Completion of federal W-4 form for filing and issuance of federal employment forms [8 USC 1324a(b)], Florida Retirement Contribution Report [119.071(5)(a)6.b.], and Conducting criminal background screening [1012.56 F.S.]. Your Social security number is also used as a unique numeric identification within some of our systems and may be used for search purposes.

The OCPS pre-employment orientation (PREO) session provides an opportunity for all the components of the pre-employment process to be held at one time in one location at the Educational Leadership Center. In PREO sessions, candidates who have been offered employment complete all appropriate employment forms, are fingerprinted and drug tested and receive info regarding the benefits of OCPS employment.

All sessions are held at the Educational Leadership Center at 445 W. Amelia Street, Orlando, Florida. Parking is available in the lot directly west of the Educational Leadership Center. Candidates attending a session should inquire at the information desk in the lobby for directions to the room for the session.

The school or work location offering employment registers a candidate for a specific PREO date and session, and providing the candidate with a confirmation information letter. Attendees can expect the following at the PREO sessions:

  1. Completion of employment paperwork/forms such as W-4, I-9 Employment Eligibility form, retirement forms.
  2. Fingerprinting Completion – Background screening is performed by Livescan technology. Candidates provide basic demographic information and have their prints rolled electronically for submission to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and FBI for processing. PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT fingerprint, unless authorized by the work location administrator.
      • The price to fingerprint is $70.00.
      • Fingerprint Enrollment must be completed prior to attending Pre-Employment Orientation (PREO).  A link will be provided via your online On-Boarding paperwork.

PLEASE NOTE: Cash and personal checks are NOT accepted.

  1. Drug Testing – Drug test information will be given, forms will be completed and a urine specimen will be collected at our on-site facility in the Educational Leadership Center.  Drug testing payment must be made prior to attending Pre-Employment Orientation (PREO).   link will be provided via your online On-Boarding paperwork.

  2. IPCS Evaluation – Custodial, Food Service, Educational Paraprofessional – Severely Handicapped, C, Storekeeper/Warehouse Technician, Mail Services Clerk and Six (6) Maintenance Job Classifications Only (Grounds and Landscaper, AC Technician, Plumber, Electrician, Carpenter, Building Service Technician (BST):An appointment will be scheduled for you to complete an Industrial Physical Capacity Services (IPCS) evaluation to ensure your ability to safely perform the specific requirements as described in the OCPS job description. Eligibility for employment is contingent on your successful completion of the IPCS evaluation.
