Vying for an opportunity to compete in the national championship, 59 students, representing 31 OCPS middle schools, participated in the annual Spanish Spelling Bee.
The Multilingual and Corrective Programs held the districtwide event at Edgewater High School on Thursday, Jan. 24. The OCPS District Spanish Spelling Bee promotes knowledge of the Spanish Language and encourages students to continue their pursuit of that knowledge. Emilia Nina, the winner, will represent OCPS in the National Spanish Spelling Bee in Denver, Colorado, July 11-14.
The 2018-2019 OCPS Spanish Spelling Bee top 5 winners:
1st place – Emilia Nina – Timber Springs Middle School
2nd place – Santiago Mantilla – Bridgewater Middle School
3rd place – Miguel Palacios - Hunter’s Creek Middle School
4th place – Ailani M. Vizcarrondo – Glenridge Middle School
5th place – Valentina Perdomo – Jackson Middle School
