The OCPS District Level Math Olympics provided four competitions for
teams to showcase their knowledge of Math Fluency, Math Tasks, Math Models and
in a Math Application Challenge.
Some little mathematicians put their skills to the test.
The Math Application Challenge competition is the most intensive
and visual. Students design a catapult from a set list of
supplies. Teams bring their perfectly measured design to the competition
and have 2.5 hours to build the catapult to match their design. Students
receive points for accuracy of the catapult measurements in comparison to the
design and accuracy of the catapult to actually hit a specific target.
